Maybe the White Hispanic was telling the truth after all…

There were several significant developments in the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case this week. With the release of the state’s evidence to Zimmerman’s attorney, the
public got its glimpse of the actual facts surrounding the shooting.  And so far it seems that every piece of evidence validates Zimmerman’s version of events   Hopefully from this point forward we’ll be spared further flights of lurid fantasy from the news media, or impromptu liberation songs by members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

The evidence that’s come to light so far has revealed that (in direct contradiction to all earlier reports) there were at least two eye-witnesses to the episode.  Both witnesses
saw Martin pinning Zimmerman to the ground, straddling his chest and pummeling his
face “MMA style” (thereby bouncing the back of his of his head off of the sidewalk.)  Both witnesses, and initially Trayvon Martin’s own father told police that it had been Zimmerman crying out for help during the attack.  The medical report filed the night of the incident affirmed that Zimmerman had suffered two black eyes, minor contusions to the chest and back, a broken nose, and several gashes to the back of the head.   The later autopsy found that Martin’s knuckles were scraped and bruised, and that he had traces of marijuana in his blood.

Despite, or perhaps because of these revelations, it was also revealed this week that the Holder Justice Department will likely pursue federal hate crimes charges against Zimmerman.  A federal murder conviction (with or without the hate-crime aggravator) would make Zimmerman eligible for the death penalty.

When Post-Partisans Attack

Several months ago I wrote a post about the administration’s creepy, bizarre attempt to track the political speech (including the private conversations and email) of ordinary citizens critical of the Democratic Party or the President. Recently the administration has gone even further – publicly naming private citizens who donated money to the Romney campaign, and exhorted its legion of welfare mothers, pedophile university professors, and terror sympathizers to harass them and destroy their businesses.

Businessman Frank Vandersloot, the CEO of Melaleuca, has been targeted by the Obama campaign after donating money to Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign. “Three weeks ago, an Obama campaign website, ‘Keeping GOP Honest,’ took the extraordinary step of publicly naming and assailing eight private citizens backing Mr. Romney,” Kim Strassel of the Wall Street Journal reported. “Titled ‘Behind the curtain: a brief history of Romney’s donors,’ the post accused the eight of being ‘wealthy individuals with less-than-reputable records.’ Mr. VanderSloot was one of the eight, smeared particularly as being ‘litigious, combative and a bitter foe of the gay rights movement.’”
